Epic will replace multiple systems, helping consolidate clinical, scheduling, registration, billing and operational workflows into a single platform and reduce data silos, dual entry and fragmented user experiences.
“Kids and families are at the center of everything we do. Our move to Epic will make it easier for patients and families to navigate their healthcare needs and stay connected with our kid experts,” said Emily Chapman, MD, Children’s Minnesota president and CEO. “This transformation is also crucial as we move to the next generation of pediatric care, including precision medicine and new therapies for complex health conditions. I’m grateful to every team member who has helped us take this enormous step forward for the children and families we serve.”
Epic will replace multiple systems, helping consolidate clinical, scheduling, registration, billing and operational workflows into a single platform and reduce data silos, dual entry and fragmented user experiences. For families managing specialty appointments, follow-up care and communication across a child’s care team, the transition is designed to make the experience simpler and more connected.
Benefits to the transition include:
- One place for families to manage their child’s health information. MyChart will give families one place to access test results, manage appointments, send messages and view billing information.
- Improved virtual care options through easier virtual visits for common conditions and symptom-checking tools that help families navigate care.
- Less time on paperwork, more time with patients. The incorporation of ambient AI will help clinicians spend less time writing notes and more time focused on patients and families during visits.
- Streamlined referrals. EpicCare Link will create more streamlined access to information for shared patients, helping support coordination across health systems.
The implementation has been clinically and operationally led, with hundreds of staff participating in work groups, operational summits, training testing and readiness activities to prepare for go-live.
