K9 AdvantEDGE marks a decade of real-world dog training for Metro Detroit families, from puppy lessons to immersive board and train programs.

Romulus, MI (PRUnderground) October 11th, 2026

K9 AdvantEDGE, the family-owned dog training company based in Romulus and serving Brownstown, Downriver, and Metro Detroit, is celebrating 10 years in business this October.

Husband-and-wife team Tyler and Esther Edge founded the company in 2016, building K9 AdvantEDGE around a simple idea: training only counts if it holds up in real life. Not just in a quiet training room, but at the front door, on the neighborhood walk, and in the everyday moments where most dog problems actually happen.

Over the past decade, K9 AdvantEDGE has worked with dogs and families across Brownstown, Trenton, Woodhaven, Taylor, Allen Park, Southgate, Wyandotte, Flat Rock, and the greater Downriver and Wayne County area, taking on everything from first-time puppies to family dogs with hard-to-live-with habits like leash pulling, jumping, and door-bolting.

“Ten years in, the best part is still watching families realize their dog can be calmer, clearer, and easier to live with when the training makes sense in real life,” said Tyler Edge, owner and trainer at K9 AdvantEDGE.

That philosophy has kept K9 AdvantEDGE deliberately different from big-box obedience classes. There are no one-size-fits-all programs and no quick fixes. Every dog gets a plan built around its age, habits, and household, and every owner gets coached on what to practice after the session ends, because the Edges believe lasting results come from the family, not just the trainer.

“Most of what we do is really teaching people,” said Esther Edge, owner and trainer. “The dogs figure it out fast. Humans need to know what to do on a random Tuesday when the doorbell rings. When the whole family is on the same page, the dog relaxes, and that’s when it sticks.”

The business has grown alongside the families it serves. What began as in-person lessons has expanded into a full range of options: puppy training for young dogs, in-home training that works on problems where they actually happen, immersive board and train programs (the company’s Stay & Train option) for busy households, and, new in the company’s tenth year, online courses that bring the K9 AdvantEDGE approach to owners who want to train at home on their own schedule.

As K9 AdvantEDGE enters its next decade, the Edges are inviting Downriver and Metro Detroit dog owners to start with a no-pressure conversation about their dog’s age, behavior, daily routine, and goals. From there, the team recommends the training path that fits, including when a smaller program makes more sense than a bigger one.
